Guaranteed Admissions Program (GAP)

GAP LogoStudents who qualify gain guaranteed admission to five state colleges and two private universities. An OSD Virtual Guaranteed Admissions Info Session/Q&A (for students, families, and staff) with college admissions partners is scheduled for:

Virtual event from 3 - 4 p.m.

 

The Olympia School District has partnered with the Guaranteed Admissions Program (GAP) and two private universities which provide increased opportunities to attend college. For the GAP program, juniors will receive information, and seniors who qualify will receive guaranteed admission letters for up to seven Washington state colleges and universities. 


In order for colleges to send acceptance letters, students must give permission to release student information for the purpose of higher education through Skyward Family Access.

 

Participating colleges and universities include:

 

Guaranteed Admissions Program (Qualifying Juniors and Seniors)

  • Central Washington University (CWU) 
  • Eastern Washington University (EWU)

  • The Evergreen State College (Evergreen)

  • Washington State University (WSU)

  • Western Washington University (WWU)

 

Private Institutions (Qualified Seniors)

  • Pacific Lutheran University (PLU)

  • Saint Martin’s University (SMU)

 


 

Qualifying for GAP 

To qualify for the GAP program with the five public institutions (CWU, EWU, Evergreen, WSU and WWU) juniors and seniors must meet the following criteria:

 

Qualified students will receive an admission letter from college staff notifying them of their acceptance and next steps. Next steps will include:

 

Guaranteed Admissions Program Required Courses

  • 4 credits of English
  • 3 credits of Math (plus 1 credit of Senior Math-Based Quantitative Course)
  • 3 credits of Science
  • 3 credits of Social Science
  • **2 credits of World Language
  • **1 credit of Fine Art

 

**Waivers acceptable in place of requirements

Qualifying for Private Schools

To qualify for the two private school programs, seniors must meet the following:

 

Pacific Lutheran University (PLU) Automatic Admission Partnership

To qualify for PLU’s Automatic Admission Partnership, students must meet the following criteria:

  • Have a minimum GPA of 3.3

  • Complete 2nd Year Algebra or agreed upon equivalent

  • Meet high school graduation requirements

 

Pacific Lutheran University’s Required Courses

  • 4 credits of English

  • 3 credits of Math (including Algebra II)
  • 3 credits of Science
  • 3 credits of Social Science
  • **2 credits of World Language
  • **1 credit of Fine Art

 

**Waivers acceptable in place of requirements

 

Qualifying students will receive an automatic admission offer, then complete next steps, including:

  • An Acceptance Form (letter of interest)
  • A FAFSA or WASFA for full financial aid consideration

Saint Martin’s University Guaranteed Admissions Program

To qualify for Saint Martin’s University’s Guaranteed Admissions Program, students must meet the following criteria:

  • Have no prior history of academic or social misconduct that led to disciplinary action, such as a suspension during high school

 

St. Martin’s University Required Courses

  • 4 credits of English
  • 3 credits of Math (including Algebra II)
  • 3 credits of Science
  • 3 credits of Social Science
  • **2 credits of World Language
  • **1 credit of Fine Art

 

**Waivers acceptable in place of requirements

 

In addition to automatic admission, eligible students will be awarded a merit scholarship ranging from $20,000-$25,000 per year for up to four years. When admitted, students can select a major of interest (Nursing students must apply via Saint Martin’s Website of the Common App).
