Pursuant to a Presidential Proclamation, Governor Inslee directed on July 5 that Washington State and United States flags at all state agencies, including schools and support buildings, be lowered to half-staff in honor and remembrance of the victims who tragically lost their lives on July 4, 2022, in Highland Park, Illinois.
On July 8, also per a Presidential Proclamation Gov. Inslee directed that flags also be at half-staff in honor and remembrance of the former Prime Minister of Japan, Shinzo Abe..
Flags will remain at half-staff for both remembrances until first thing Monday morning, July 11, 2022.
