Summer School 2021

Summer School is underway! Should you have any questions feel free to contact the OSD administrators listed below:

 

 


 

High School Summer School Program (Grades 9-12)

 

  • Grades 9 – 12: Including select courses for incoming ninth-graders.
  • Registration begins June 7, 2021.
  • All courses utilize computer-based instruction and students will work remotely but will be provided opportunities for in-person support and assessments
  • A remote orientation is mandatory as well as Zoom meetings with teachers.
  • Students should plan to work approximately three hours per day.

 

Location: Remote with In-person support and assessments at ORLA
Costs: FREE OF CHARGE for OSD students.

 

Student Status

 

  • Credit Recovery: Retake only portions of a course necessary to earn credit
  • Initial credit: Courses a student is taking for the first time
  • Continuing Senior: Students beyond 4 years of high school
  • Grade Replacement: Replace a low grade (not failed). Course must be coded the same as the original as determined by the school district.

 

Dates & Times

June 28 – August 5, 2021 (Registration deadline June 25, 2021)
Monday – Thursday from 9 AM – 12 PM

 

Online/remote course options will not be continued for initial credit into the regular school year. Courses must be completed by August 5, 2021.

Middle School Summer School Program (Grades 6-8)

 

Students will be using the online Edgenuity curriculum to continue and/or further develop skills in math, English Language Arts or Washington State History.

 

 

Middle school courses are not available for initial instruction. They are intended to be used for review of content from the previous year. Washington State History may only be taken by a student who has already taken the course and did not pass. This course will satisfy the graduation requirement for Washington State History, but does not bear credit.

 

All courses utilize computer-based instruction, and students will work remotely. A remote orientation is mandatory, as well as Zoom meetings with teachers as needed based on student progress. Students should plan to work approximately three hours per day and 50 or more hours total to complete each course.

June 28 – August 5, 2021 (Registration deadline: June 25, 2021)
Monday – Thursday from 9 AM – 12 PM

 

Cost: Summer School is FREE OF CHARGE for OSD students.

 

Current 6th, 7th and 8th graders wishing to retake a Math, English or Washington State History course (no high school credit) should register using the OSD Middle School Summer School Registration form.

 

Current 8th graders wishing to take a high school course for initial credit should register using the High School Credit Summer School Registration form available on the OSD webpage. All initial courses for high school credit must be completed by August 5, 2021.

 

Online/remote course options will NOT be continued into the regular school year. All middle school courses must be completed by August 5, 2021.

Elementary School Summer School Program (Grades K-5)

 

  • Grades K-5, current students
  • Registration begins June 10, 2021 (Registration deadline is June 25, 2021)
  • Classes will be in-person with the potential for distance learning depending on enrollment numbers
  • Summer School is from July 6 to July 30, Monday - Thursday
  • Students who did not meet standard in reading are eligible for Summer School
  • There is no cost for Elementary Summer School
  • Serving students below grade level
