Each year, students eligible for support in district multilingual programs (TBIP/Title 3) take the ACCESS for ELLs assessment to measure their English knowledge and skills. The test measures academic English language proficiency for students learning English in our schools and throughout our state.

Teachers in our schools use this information to help them make decisions about instruction for our multilingual students. Teachers also use these test scores to monitor the progress students make toward English proficiency.

The window for the 2022 ACCESS for ELLs assessment is January 31-March 25, 2022.

Students do not need to study for this test. The test is an opportunity for students to demonstrate what they understand and can communicate in English. The test is separated into the 4 domains of: speaking, listening, reading and writing.

Please contact your child’s school Multilingual Specialist for specific dates/times of the test.

If you have other questions about the ACCESS for ELLs test, please contact OSD Multilingual Coordinator Heather Randolph at [email protected].
