Long Range Facilities Master Planning Advisory Committee Application

The Olympia School District invites those interested in volunteering to join our Long Range Facilities Master Planning Advisory Committee, which will help develop a new 10-year (minimum) master plan. The current long-range plan (developed in 2010) expires in 2025. Applications for the advisory committee will be open until Friday, September 27.

Through outreach and engagement, the district aims to honor school, community and stakeholder input as the Long Range Facilities Planning Advisory Committee works to explore, evaluate, and establish facility priorities that reflect the student's and community's unique character and vision within district boundaries and the surrounding area. Our new 10-year (minimum) master plan will follow OSD Policy 6900 - Facilities Planning.

The committee will include 40 participants, including school representatives and community members, and will equally represent all interest groups. It will be essential that all participants commit to attending a series of meetings, though agendas and timelines will be developed collaboratively with those involved.

Meetings are expected to begin on October 14 or 15 with final meetings in May. We are looking to host ten meetings and a facilities tour during this time frame. This equates to roughly one meeting per month, with a few months where two meetings will be necessary. We have asked those applying to designate whether Monday or Tuesday nights work best, and this will ultimately determine when meetings are scheduled.

The application process is open to all Olympia School District students, staff, families and community partners. All interested individuals are encouraged to apply. Applicants must commit to attending a series of meetings, while input from the greater Olympia community will be incorporated throughout the process. The application will close promptly at 5 p.m. on Friday, September 27.
