Learn more about the district's efforts to create equitable programming and start having age appropriate conversations with students who identify on the LGTBTQ+ and the gender spectrum at a community webinar from 6-7 p.m. on June 15.

The webinar will feature information from Jay Banks, an Afro-Latina Non-Binary Queer Educator and currently the Executive Director of Pizza Klatch, a local nonprofit supporting youth participants of all gender identities, sexual orientations, racial backgrounds, abilities, and religious beliefs through an intersectional lens. Banks will share about what identifying as LGBTQ+ means, how to support youth in a positive manner and what resources families can utilize. They have a master's degree in early childhood education and worked to implement Black Lives Matter curriculum in their classroom, while focusing on being trans and queer affirming. After teaching in elementary schools, Jay decided to use their life experiences and formal education on social issues to be a source of positive representation for queer youth of color.
