Summer athletes abide by 10-person gathering rule

Update August 4, 2020

Effective immediately, Olympia High School tennis courts are closed to all users until September 1, 2020 due to construction. The date of completion is subject to change based on construction progress and contractor needs. Thank you for your understanding.

Students and coaches who use OSD fields and/or indoor athletic facilities as part of the voluntary summer sports program will meet in groups no larger than 10 people to comply with Gov. Jay Inslee’s recent update to Phase 3 social gatherings.

Beginning on Monday, July 20, weight and mat rooms on high school campuses, for example, will be limited to nine athletes and a coach. Similarly, school gymnasiums will be divided in half with groups no larger than 10 on each half of the court; baseball fields will be divided into two sections (field and hitting facility) with nine athletes and a coach on each half; and the Ingersoll and Swarthout football fields will be divided into four quadrants with no more than 10 students and/or coaches in each quadrant.

Students and coaches are also expected to practice physical distancing while meeting in their groups of no more than 10 people.
