The Olympia School District supports sustainability and resource conservation. Every student, teacher, staff member and administrator can help the district conserve. The Resource Conservation Program website has information about reducing our carbon footprint, saving energy and conserving resources. Resource Conservation Manager Bonnie Meyer provides technical assistance, tracks utility use data and helps find conservation opportunites, 596-8566.
In 2010 and 2011, Puget Sound Energy recognized our program for excellence.

- Use a reusable lunch box or bag.
- Buy reusable containers for sandwiches and snacks.
- Choose clothing styles you can live with a long time.
- Buy recycled paper and write on both sides.
- Make book covers from recycled materials such as brown paper bags, used wrapping paper or cloth.
- Donate used clothes, books, toys and backpacks for the next child.
- If your school has a food waste composting program, use it, or help your administration to start a program.
