Program for Academically Talented Students (PATS)
PATS serves students in second through fifth grades who possess advanced skills in reading, mathematics and language arts. As a full-day class each week, PATS offers a stimulating and rigorous curriculum that challenges and improves student's independent and self-directed learning skills. Students learn about problem-solving, cooperative learning, motivation and task-orientation. Learn more about areas of intelligence and what giftedness means.
How Does My Child Qualify for PATS?
To qualify for PATS, students must demonstrate high academic abilities, placing in the 80th percentile or higher on the Measures of Academic Progress (MAP) assessment. Students must also possess high cognitive ability, placing in the top 10% of the CogAT test. The MAP assessment is taken at your child's home school (all elementary school students participate in this test) while PATS teachers administer the CogAT test.
