Ingersoll Stadium - Security and Key Cards

In the summer and fall of 2013 the Olympia School District held two public forums seeking community input on the best ways to protect citizens’ investment in Ingersoll Stadium, located at 1302 North Street. Ingersoll had increasingly been the target of vandalism and misuse. In addition, in April 2013 the City of Olympia Hearing Examiner reaffirmed specific group use limitations for the stadium. As a result, the district began considering ways to make the stadium as accessible as possible to the community while maintaining a safe environment and meeting the Hearing Examiner’s use regulation requirements.

After considering input from the public meetings and other community comment, on Sept. 23 the Olympia School Board approved Procedure 4260P(D), a measure implementing new security measures around Ingersoll Stadium.

  • Overnight locking: Ingersoll Stadium is locked from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m.
  • Key card access:  Community members may obtain an electronic key card, giving them access to Ingersoll Stadium for personal, recreational use. The first card is free for OSD students; replacement of lost cards will be $10. Cards are $10 for community members. The cards do not expire. Lost cards for students and community members require a $10 replacement fee. For the safety of students, the facility is closed to public access, even with a key card, when an Olympia School District (OSD) school is conducting classes, activities, or athletic practices and games.
