Superintendent Bill Lahmann

Mr. William "Bill" Lahmann began service to the Olympia School District as Superintendent July 1, 2001. He had most recently served as Superintendent of the South Kitsap School District, Port Orchard, Washington, beginning in 1995. In May 2001, he was named Superintendent of the Year at the Washington State Awards for Excellence in Education.

Mr. Lahmann graduated high school in Stevenson, Washington, and earned degrees from Western Washington State University and Central Washington University. He earned his Superintendent's certificate from Washington State University.

He began as a teacher in the Tumwater School District, worked as a labor relations mediator for the Public Employment Relations Commission, and served as a research analyst for the House of Representatives. In 1978, he accepted a fellowship as legislative analyst for the U. S. Office of Education in Washington, D. C. He returned to Olympia a year later and served as Assistant Executive Director, Washington Association of School Administrators. From there he accepted a position at OSPI (Office of the Superintendent of Public Instruction) and simultaneously served an administrative internship with the Olympia School District under Superintendent Dick Hunter.

From 1987-91, he served as Assistant Superintendent for University Place Schools, Tacoma. He was selected as Superintendent of Eatonville School District in 1991.
