Communications & Community Relations
Communicating with our public has been essential since public education began in Olympia in 1852. As public schools, we believe that an effective communications program is an essential component to share information, foster understanding of goals, needs, and accomplishments of our educational program and our service to students, families and our community.
Individual school communication programs provide information to their families. The Communications Department of the Olympia School District is focused on communicating "internally" with our nearly 1500 employees and "externally" with our community of 30,000 households.
We publish a yearly Calendar & Parent Handbook which is distributed throughout the District at the beginning of the school year. "A Report to Our Community," which is a newsletter informing our community about what is happening in our schools, is mailed to each
household in the District three times per year. Our "Friday Update" is
published weekly for staff and is available online. Please visit our News Section to view these publications.
We appreciate your comments and suggestions. We are here to foster communication between the Board, Superintendent, employees, families, and other community members. Please let us know how we can serve you better.
